Process of Hypnosis
Hypnosis actually dates back to the late 1700's. One of the first pioneers of Hypnosis
was Abbe Faria
although the credit
for naming the process "Hypnosis" goes
to Dr. James Braid
in 1841 .
Dr. Braid termed the name Hypnosis so as not to be confused with
Franz Mesners
practice of
mesmerism. Hypnosis techniques have stood the test of time.
The process will actually start with
having you fill out the online form
to give me some background information
about you and what you hope to achieve
through Hypnosis.
When you come for your first
appointment
we will discuss your goals
and answer any questions you might
have. Of course, we will only move
forward to an actual session if
you are comfortable with the process.
The first fifteen minutes of a session is
called an induction. This is the
relaxation part of the session. You will
transition
from the normal state of consciousness
to a very relaxed state of mind.
The next step is called deepening,
which is simply to deepen the state
of relaxation.
The third step is the suggestions.
This is when I have a little chat with your
subconscious mind and introduce the
suggestions we agreed upon in your consultation!
The final step is called the closing.
This is the process of bringing
you back to a normal
state of consciousness.
It is important to note: Often a person will not think they were hypnotized...because it is a natural state of mind... you are not
asleep...you are not unconscious. Despite what you have seen in the movies or heard you are usually aware of your surroundings, you hear what is going on around you, and you are not under my control. All of this will be discussed in our consultation.
